Discovering Bird Language

Do you want to know how to make the most of your time outside? Take your curiosity to the next level! Bird language is an extension of animal tracking used to understand the dynamics and events in an ecosystem. There will be games and exercises, so be prepared to use your senses and have some fun!

Do you want to see more wildlife? Would you like to know how ecology communicates? Do you just like watching birds? If you said yes to any of these, then this Bird Language class is for you!

Topics and Events Include:

  • How other Animals use Bird Language

  • Sensory Games and Exercises

  • The Art of Questioning

  • Bird Behavior and Seasons

  • Routine/Maintenance “voices’ vs. Bird Alarms

  • Stalking Game (Moving with Silence and Invisibility to Minimize Bird Alarms)

  • Effective Research and Journaling

  • How to Build Habits of Awareness

This class is for ages 16 and up. It is structured to give you the tools and resources to expand your understanding of what is going on in the forest for a lifetime of learning wherever you may live. I hope you’ll join us.

Please make sure to bring:

  • Paper and a writing utensil

  • Food and water

  • Binoculars (optional)
