Mission: Build a thriving community resource that inspires stewardship of our urban forest through environmental education.

Vision: Our unique urban forest, the Beargrass Creek State Nature Preserve, along with the Louisville Nature Center campus, is Louisville Metro’s primary destination for discovery that nature begins in our own backyard.

Education Programs

Plan your fall, winter, or spring field trip to Louisville Nature Center. School classes, scouts, nature enthusiasts, senior citizens, and home-school groups are welcome to spend a couple of hours learning about the native flora and fauna of our area. Spots fill up quickly - often months in advance - so contact us early!

Contribute to our Mission

Every dollar makes a difference in our continuing efforts to educate everyone in our community - adults as well as youth - about the natural world we all share.

Rental Space

If you are planning a group event, consider holding it at LNC. Your guests will enjoy a pleasant setting surrounded by nature with window views of the adjoining forest. Our facility has kitchen accommodations, indoor and outdoor seating areas, and room for as many as 62 guests with table and chairs or one hundred guests standing.

Become a Volunteer

If you enjoy the outdoors and sharing your love of nature with others, then you will definitely enjoy volunteering at the Louisville Nature Center! Consider volunteering at the Louisville Nature Center this summer and help with our summer camps.
