Due to high winds, some days it may be unsafe to go into the woods. On these days, while we usually do a “field day” on the grounds of the Nature Center, we would like the opportunity to take the children to Joe Creason park to utilize their field space (where there are significantly less trees) to fly kites and use their playground. Joe Creason is right next to the nature center so we would ask that on the day specified that you drop off and pick up your child at Joe Creason park.

Trip Details:

Destination: Joe Creason Park playground
Date: August 18, 2025 - May 22, 2026
Purpose: Outdoor play, exploration, and nature-based learning activities. Alternate classroom day during high winds.
Transportation: Drop off/pick up location will move to Joe Creason and we will post on BAND by 8:30am about new drop off and pick up locations.

Important Notes:

In case of rain or severe weather, we will cancel our field trip and stay at the nature center.
Pack for a normal day of swallowtail as our need for snack/ change of clothes will be the same.
There is a public restroom at the park that we will utilize if needed.
Children will be supervised at all times by our teachers and staff.

I give permission for my child to attend a day trip to Joe Creason park on high wind days, at the discretion of the educators. I understand that my child will be under the supervision of the preschool staff and that all reasonable precautions will be taken to ensure their safety.
